The short version
Meander runs on your computer. Your meetings, transcripts, and the notes it produces stay there. We do not have a copy and we have not built anywhere to put one.
What stays on your machine
- Captured audio, and everything derived from it.
- Transcripts, and the record of what was said.
- Every note Meander produces, and the full trace of how it produced it.
- Your own documents, which it reads locally to check claims against.
- Your model provider key, if you use your own.
What leaves your machine, and only when you enable it
Model access
If you use a model provider, the text of the claim being checked and the evidence gathered for it are sent to that provider so it can write the sentence you read. This is off in the local configuration and nothing is sent at all.
On the managed tier the traffic goes from your computer directly to the provider. It does not pass through us, and we do not see it. What we hold is a record that you have a subscription and how much of your allowance you have used.
Web search
If you enable web search, search terms derived from the meeting are sent to a search provider. Meander sends a minimised set of terms rather than sentences, and the app records every query it issued so you can see exactly what left.
Software updates and first-run setup
Meander checks for updates and downloads the speech model on first run. Those requests reach our update service and the model's publisher and carry no meeting content.
What we hold about you
Only what a subscription needs: what Stripe holds as our payment processor, which is your email address, your payment details, and your billing history. Stripe holds your card details; we do not.
Your licence identifies you by a Stripe customer reference and nothing else. It carries no email address, no name, and nothing about any meeting.
What we do not do
- We do not train models on your meetings. We do not have your meetings.
- We do not sell or share personal data.
- We do not use advertising or analytics trackers on this site.
- Meander does not infer emotion, sentiment, or anything about how a person seemed. The product is built so that such a reading cannot be represented, not merely so that it is discouraged.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to meanderai@gmail.com. Deleting your subscription record ends the subscription. We cannot delete your meetings, because they are on your computer and we never had them. Deleting Meander's data directory does that, and the application will tell you where it is.
Retention
Subscription and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, and no longer. Those records live in Stripe rather than here, because there is no database on our side. Nothing else is kept, because nothing else is collected.
Contact
Meander is made and sold by one person, not by a company, and there is no registered entity or business address to give you yet. Email meanderai@gmail.com and you reach that person directly. It is the only channel, and it is read.
For anything about the payment itself, the receipt Stripe sent you carries their details and reaching Stripe is often faster. Replying to that receipt also reaches us.
